Xmas Special Ready for Download!

Well everyone else does it and so have Dobbie and Drew, shamelessly cashing in on the festive spirit to spout their familiar brand of
unedited drivel and nonsense.

My Poem - Ready your responses!

Ok so here is my response to E03's call for poetry that you shouldn't really share. Unfortunately I cant find the one I wrote about people who share poetry, my PC died a few months ago and it might be somewhere on the hard drives. In the mean time I treat you to these self indulgent gems. Sycophants please prepare your appropriate responses:

A New Picture

There’s a bank statement,
On the shelf collecting dust.
There’s a message,
Flashing on the answer machine.
There’s a note on a torn envelope
Pinned to the fridge with a magnet.
There’s a new picture
Of you.
And all is calm
I’ll get back to work tomorrow.

A Little Lost

Today I feel a little lost
Like a hand reaching into an empty pocket
Digging out a receipt that has been spun in the wash
A receipt for some product that has once again failed to ‘change’ my life
I see the changes you have made
I wonder
You have a happiness far beyond mortal reckoning
I hope your right and I’m wrong, even if that proves bad for me
Because a little hope is good for the soul
And feels better
Than being a little lost.

I Would Be Free

Tiny molecules of tear salt grit
Grinding
Caustic to the underside of the lid, red and sullen
The pressure felt by Troy sits atop the furrowed brow
And spear stabbed pains announce that battle has commenced within the temples

Through this wince induced widescreen perspective
Not so much surround sound
Just an internal thump of ‘heart-point-one’
Click-ings and tick-ings
Reverberate
Dull
Like slap of hand on newly skinned carcass
And through the glass, partial blind
Blades of anaemic grass bend into the shower

If only I could lay on that grass, with my eyes drinking in the falling seas
Washing numbness from these pinched elbows
Wrapped in cotton and polyester acceptance
Trapping creativity like tuna in a corporate drag net
If I could lay on that grass
I would
Be
Free

Poem:

The warmest of hands
Upon a shoulder
Placed, fingers teasing
A moment of tension
From the taut muscular tissue
“I’ll be there for you, I’m here for you”
Ringing out like funeral bells
Disturbing birds to flight
As my knees give way.

Oh I fell so intellectual now :-) Send your poetry to dobbieanddrew@aol.com and we'll read some out next time/post it up on here
